QUESTIONS

Here are some answers to FAQ's that may help you understand the process a little more

What area's do you cover?

I am based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, UK and cover all of the surrounding areas within a 50 mile radius.

Given the nature & unpredictability of births I do not commit to travelling further afield in anticipation that I may not make it to you in time, however if you wish to discuss this please do get in touch.

How do we book you?

All you need to do is contact me to let me know your interested in having me document your birth and I will get in touch and discuss exactly where we go from there. It is an easy process but please don't delay as I only book in a very limited amount of births per year.

Can I still have a book if I am having a hospital birth / caesarian section?

Absolutely! From my experience healthcare providers are generally happy that I join you as your second birth partner.
I am fully insured with PLI and am careful not to distract the professionals helping you with silent cameras and a no flash policy.
Permission from your midwife would be required if you are having an assisted birth and you may wish to discuss with your anaesthetist if having an elected C-section to make them aware how important it is for you to still have this documented.
Should the situation arise that you need to have an emergency caesarian, I will try my best to discuss your wishes with the medical staff however I cannot make any promises they will allow me in. Be assured though that I will do my best.

What if you miss the birth?

As I'm sure you can imagine, the nature of birth photography means that it can be very unpredictable, however as you get to know me during the pregnancy we will discuss any concerns you may have.

I am on call 24 hours a day from 38 weeks and will always aim to have my equipment ready, a bag packed and my own childcare in place during this time.

Should the birth happen very quickly or matters arise that mean I medically cannot be with you, I will always come and capture the precious moments just after baby is born; within the first 48 hours. This may be at home or in hospital.

Should there be any unprecedented circumstances meaning I cannot attend for personal reasons, I will always aim to have a photographer ready as a back up.

Will my images be shared online?

No, not without your permission.

I love to promote birth photography here in the UK as it is still a relatively new concept and I feel it really empowers other women, however this is your birth, body and privacy which I will always respect fully.

We will discuss your preferences during your initial consultation.

What if I just want the pregnancy / post-birth photos?

That is absolutely fine! I do offer maternity & Fresh 48 newborn sessions in a lifestyle manner. Meaning you are still getting the beautiful documentary style images / film that are extremely important, maybe you have older children and wish to have their first encounter with baby photographed or just want all those little baby details, I love this too so please contact me!
